HEROES of Tri-County Red Cross Begins Recruitment

PLAINFIELD, NJ (January 22, 2008) – Since 1917, the Tri-County Red Cross has been a hero for thousands of people in our community, lending aid during times of disaster, seeing to the welfare of military families and providing citizens with lifesaving CPR and first aid skills. Now, the Tri-County Red Cross is looking for a few good men and women to get involved in our HEROES of the Tri-County Red Cross fundraiser.
“HEROES is a great opportunity for the community to get involved, have fun, and raise money to help prepare for, prevent and respond to disasters in our are,” says Nathan Rudy, CEO of Tri-County Red Cross. “This fundraiser is quick, easy and has the chance to make a big impact in our community.”
HEROES for the Tri-County Red Cross is a grassroots campaign in which local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs, and individuals pledge to raise $1,000, through any legal means they choose, for the Tri-County Red Cross. This year, the Tri-County Red Cross has set its sights on raising $75,000 during the campaign.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Tri-County Red Cross as its HEROES chair, working to raise the funds to protect the people of our community from disaster,” said Green Brook Township Committeewoman Melonie Marano, Chair of the HEROES of the Tri-County Red Cross. “The Red Cross was there for Green Brook for Hurricane Floyd and when we were attacked on 9/11, and through the HEROES campaign we can be sure they are there for us in the future as well.”
All funds raised will be used to support local Red Cross services, such as disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for our community. All money raised will support your neighbors in our area.
