Linden, NJ: Volunteer Staff members
Joe Czarnecki and
Molly Lenz of the Tri-County Red Cross responded to the multi-family home fire on East Price Street in Linden on January 9, 2010. While police and fire reports indicated that the family on the first floor was hospitalized, the families on the second floor were given assistance for food, clothing and shoes. The Wood and Van Allen families indicated they had an alternate place to stay for the next few days. "Red Cross assistance at fires, home floods and other local disasters can include temporary shelter for up to three nights, plus food and clothing for a week," reports Michael Prasad, Director of Emergency Services for the chapter. "This is only made possible through the generous donations of local residents, businesses, civic groups and foundations."

Every winter, from November to March, the Tri-County Red Cross spends around $75,000 to provide disaster prevention and relief to residents of Union, Somerset and Middlesex counties who are displaced from their homes by fire.
You can help us provide these services by making a small donation. You can make a one-time tax-deductible gift, or become a Sustaining Hero by signing up to give every month with a debit or credit card. Just $10 a month provides immediate food for a week, for a family of four after a home fire or flood.
