On Tuesday, January 12th a major earthquake -- estimated to be between 6.5 and 7.3 in magnitude --hit Haiti near Port-au-Prince, doing massive damage to the capital. While the full extent of the damage is not known at this time, the disaster is significant.
The American Red Cross has already released $10,000,000 and made all of its disaster and sheltering supplies in our Panama facility available to Haiti. Disaster specialists from the United States are on the ground, and more are being sent to support the people of Haiti.

Hièr soir, un tremblement de tèrre exceptionnellement puissante, estimée d'avoir une magnitude entre 6.5 et 7.3, a eu lieu en Haiti, près de Port-au-Prince, devastant énormément la capitale. Même si on ne sait pas actuellement la vraie grandeur des dommages, la catastrophe est significante.
La Croix Rouge Américaine a déjà donnée $200,000, et elle a permis à Haiti d'utiliser ses reserves de désastre et de refuge qui existent au Panama. Des experts américains des catastrophes sont déjà en Haiti, et plus de preparation est en oeuvre pour aider la communotée Haitienne.
