The Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to an apartment fire in Scotch Plains, NJ on Sunday, February 25, 2009 around 3pm. No assistance was needed by the three residents of the apartment and no one was injured in the fire which started in the kitchen area of the home.The Red Cross provided canteen services to the residents and the first responders, including members of the Scotch Plains Fire Department, Cranford Fire Department, Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, Union County Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Scotch Plains Office of Emergency Management.
Home fires are the biggest local disaster in our area. The Tri-County Red Cross funds its disaster response completely with contributions from local individuals, organizations and businesses. Please consider contributing $25, $50 or more to help replenish the disaster fund.
